A Military Coup Because Of Rum

Aussies enjoy cold beers and their love for beer has never wane cold. In the late 18th century, a military coup took place when Sydney was still a colony because of rum. In 1808, Governor William Bligh stopped the practice but the leaders of the rum business deposed Bligh in a Rum Rebellion.

Deadly Drop Bears Myth

Many of us are familiar with the cute koalas. However, the drop bears are larger with heavy claws and teeth than the koala.  The drop bears drop from trees and fall on their prey including humans, leaving them in an unconscious state before eating them.  Do not believe this story because it is a myth.  Drop bears are Australian’s fictional creatures that are told to scare visitors.

Painful Construction of Sydney Opera House 

 

Iconic and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sydney Opera House was designed by Danish architect, Jorn Utzon.  The construction of the opera house was painful and the budget was unbelievable ( from an estimated $7 million to $102million). It took more than 100,000 workers to complete the house in 14 years.
